The Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) through the General Secretary Nicholas Musonye have confirmed that the 2019 CECAFA General Assembly slated which is slated for Wednesday 18th December, 2019 in Kampala, Uganda, will be hosted at Silver Springs Hotel in Bugolobi.
“The assembly will be hosted at Silver Springs Hotel and there will be elections for the new President, Two (2) Vice Presidents and Committee members as being one of the agendas of the day” Says Musonye.
“We shall use the newly adopted statues for Zones as recommended by CAF to elect new office bearers,” the CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye further said.
The new Statute allows for the President, two Vice Presidents and three Committee members to be elected. Sudanese Mutasim Gafaar’s term of office as CECAFA President ended in November 30th 2019, and Abdigaani Arab Said, the President of the Somalia Football Association has been serving as the Vice President.
Some of the members of the out-going committee include; Aimable Habimana (Burundi), Wallace Karia (Tanzania) and Doris Petra (Kenya). Although Wallace Karia is tipped to bounce back as the new President in 2020.
South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) President Francis Amin Paul is one of the strongest candidates for the Vice President position after declaring interest for the post on Monday 2nd December 2019. In case he is elected, Amin will be the first South Sudanese to be serving in the regional football association.
