The South Sudan representatives at the ongoing 2020 basketball Africa league qualifying tournament Cobra Sport club have lost their opening group B game against Ferroviario Maputo of Mozambique by 74-59 points on Tuesday 17th December 2019.
Cobra who started the game in a low pace continue trilling the Mozambique side Ferroviario Maputo with the first quarter ending in 18-16, Q1 points to the Maputo based club in the Second Round ‘Elite 16’ of the Basketball Africa League 2020 Qualifying Tournaments in the Rwandan Capital Kigali with Q2 24-15, Q3 15-17, and Q4 17-11 being some of the results obtained.
Cobra led 18-16 at the end of the first quarter but Ferroviario’s presence in the paint that eventually yielded 48 points was too much for the South Sudanese champions. The Mozambican side Ferroviario de Maputo wins extended their unbeaten run in the BAL Qualifiers to 6-0 after defeating Cobra Sports of South Sudan 74-59.
However individual performances from Stephen Rumudu who scored 15 points, and Lual Akuei with 7 points. The League Champions, Cobra are pooled in Group B after a wild award alongside Kenya Ports Authority of Kenya, against Ferroviario Maputo of Mozambique, and City Oilers of Uganda.
The South Sudan basketball giants will continue with their group B campaigns on Wednesday 18th 2019 as they take on Kenya Port Authority (KPA) and it is a must win for Cobra SC especially after losing their first encounter to Ferroviario.
Cobra is sitting at the 3rd position, with City Oilers from Uganda at number one and Ferroviario at number two, Kenya Port Authority are yet to pick a win just like Cobra are the bottom of group, the Best classified teams in the group, will qualify for the next round of elite 16 whereas, while the rest will be eliminated from the tournament.
