South Sudan Basketball Federation has confirmed their participation for the first time in the upcoming Afrobasket Prequalification tournament in Nairobi, Kenya for 2021 Afrobasket.
In a letter addressed to the leadership of FIBA Zone V by South Sudan Basketball Federation on the 16th December, states that the national team, Bright Stars will be part of January, 2020 Prequalification tournament.
The competition is scheduled to start from 14th and run till 18th of January, 2020 in the Kenyan Capital Nairobi at Nyayo National Gymnasium.
it should be noted that South Sudan first took part in the Zone V Prequalification round in 2017 in Congo Brazzaville as reported by the then South Sudan Basketball Federation general Secretary Simon Mayen Malok.
“The South Sudan Basketball Federation kindly requests the entire basketball family to fully support this national course”, part of the letter seen by www.kurrasports.com reads.
This will be the first national outing under the new administration headed by former NBA star, Luol Deng who was elected last month into office.
Other expected countries to take part include; Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia and hosts Kenya.
