South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) President Francis Amin Paul has been elected Vice President of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) for the next of 4 years.
The elections were held on Wednesday 18th December 2019 at Silver Spring Hotel in Bugulobi Kampala Uganda before the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup final
The CECAFA football regional body leadership will be headed by Tanzania FA President Wallace Karai and Francis Amin Paul as his Vice President with Esayas Jira of Ethiopia as the 2nd vice president. Wallace Karai, the new CECAFA boss, said he has accepted his unopposed election and promised inclusive and consultative leadership. The President of the Eritrea National Football Federation, Abraham Esayas and the Rwanda FA boss Gen. Sekamana Jean Damascène were also picked as the two Board members.
Francis Amin who went to his twitter page to register his appreciation upon his election as the Vice President of CECAFA, “I want to thank my Colleagues in the CECAFA region for electing me as the new CECAFA 1st Vice President. It’s an honour that I intend to use it effectively to help the regional body enhance its football development strategy as we pursue collective responsibility” Says Amin. I also want to congratulate my colleague Wallace Karia of Tanzania Football Federation upon his successful election as the CECAFA President” Amin further said.
The body has also confirmed the host for 2020 CECAFA competitions, with Sudan to host the 2020 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup and the U20 AFCON Zonal Qualifiers, with Rwanda and Burundi to host the U-17 AFCON Qualifiers and CECAFA U-20 for Men and Women respectively, meanwhile Djibouti will host the inaugural CECAFA Women U-16, and Tanzania will host the 2020 CECAFA Kagame Cup.
