South Sudan U-20 Player Joins Vipers Sports Club

Vipers Sports Club has signed South Sudan U-20 right back Dhata Joseph Stephen from Buddo Secondary School to become the Venoms second capture of the January transfer season.

The young energetic and ball-playing right-back who was part of the club’s youth set-up since his move in mid-2019, featured for the South Sudan U-20 team in the 2019 CECAFA U-20 Challenge Cup staged in Jinja and Gulu.

The sessional roving right-back put his name into the record books after scoring a thunderous goal against Somalia U-20 in Njeru, with South Sudan wining the match the 3-0, Dhata nailed the final 3rd goal of the match that evening to take South Sudan into the quarter final slot of CECAFA U-20 championship that was held in Uganda.  

It should be noted that, Dhata was involved in the club’s pre-season trainings and featured in most friendly games for the Venoms which is coached by Edward Golola.

However the young South Sudan international will face off competition for the right-back slot alongside Paul Willa in a department where Bashir Asiku has been used in most of the club’s games.

Vipers SC will now have two South Sudanese at disposal after lanky center back Toha Rashid Freedom confirmed that he will be featuring for the Bright Stars other than the Cranes, a move which will be finalized soon although he (Toha) is still recovering from a knee injury sustained during a league match.  

The Uganda Premier League 2019/2020 table leaders shall be welcoming newly-promoted Kyetume at St Mary’s Stadium on Friday, 10th January 2020, before taking on Kajjansi United in the Uganda Cup round of 64 in a date yet to be confirmed.
