South Sudan U-20 Player Handed First Club Debut In The Kenya Premier League 2019/2020 Season

South Sudan U-20 International and Mathare United FC forward Daniel Lual Gumnok was handed his club debut on Saturday 4th January 2020 against Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Football Club at the ongoing Kenya Premier League 2019/2020 season.

The sharp shooter who made his debut in the 2019/2020 second round of the league came off the bench on the 67th minute substituting Lazaro Simba during the club’s 1-1 draw on 4th January 2020. Mathare United FC will face Western Stima FC on Wednesday 8th January 2020 before hosting Koul John’s Kariobangi Sharks FC on Sunday 12th January 2020.

Lual signed for the 2018 Kenya Premier League champions on August 12th 2019 from Atlabara FC as a free agent after the expiry of his contract with the club, however the 17-year-old forward could not feature for his club’s domestic league games since his ITC arrived after the transfer deadline day in August 2019.

It should be noted that the Versatile forward has been part of the clubs preseason campaigns, scoring the consolation goal after coming off the bench as Mathare United FC lost 4-1 to Wazito FC in a friendly season, he was however started and played for 70 minutes as Mathare United FC beat AFC Leopards 4-1 in the series of the friendly games arranged for the club in 2019.

The South Sudan U-20 forward who was part of the national team U-20 that represented the country in the 2019 CECAFA Challenge Cup in Uganda scored a hat trick as South Sudan shared a spoilt point against Burundi in the opening group match, he hold the record of one of the players to have scored 3 goals in a single game in the competition.

Dani had a successful trial in Spain in 2019 while he was invited for trails; among other clubs he faced were Historic Parade FC, Vallbonense FC, EC. EL Puig,U-18, however the management fails to get him a team because of Article 19, a regulation stating that players under the age of 18 in Spain cannot sign a contract or register with a club in a country other than their own.
