Torit South Sudan Cup Champions, Hinate FC have been eliminated from South Sudan Cup on 2-1 aggregate despite winning the second leg 1-0 against Juba Champions.
Khamis gave hope to the visitors when he headed in Scopas’ first touch cross, having come off the bench in the 38th minute but not enough to take them through.
The debutant Hinate struggled to send the tie into shootouts but Rabita FC goalkeeper, Emmanuel John ‘Bongaman’ was the difference in between the sticks.
He made tremendous saves to deny Robert and Khamis in the first half which would have changed the tie in favour of the Torit Champions.
Rabita having won the first leg 2-0 and advancing on 2-1 aggregate, maintained their concentration and defended well as a team.
The worry for Coach Ramzi Sebit, who has won the national competition four times with three different clubs in the next round, is building play from the back.
The defensive line for Juba Champions looked uncomfortable in building the game from behind and gave away easy possession to the opponent.
Despite the defeat to the Torit Champions, Rabita FC remains one of bookmakers’ favourites for the title and Coach Ramzi’s fifth national competition.
