South Sudan National team player and Armadale SC holding midfielder Firday Zico Peter has been awarded the Make Smoking History PAN Cup 2020 most valuable player (MVP) of the tournment.
The performance of the Bright Stars midfielder was huge from the quarter finals and he helped South Sudan clinch the Make Smoking History PAN Cup 2020, trophy after beating Liberia by 5-1 in the final, with Zico scoring one of the five goals. Ajak Riak, and a double from Thiak Kuel were enough to condemn the Lone Stars to their heavy 5-1 defeat since the birth of the tournament. South Sudan has won the Trophy for the 3rd time.
Team captain Dhuor Chol of Stirling Lion, Friday Zico of Armadale SC and Jackson Morgan of Perth SC were some of the South Sudan National football team players who took part in the finals against Liberia.
Ajak Riak of Kingsway SC was South Sudan’s top goal scorer with 6 goals in the Pan Perth African Cup of Nations Tournament.
In another development the coach of the tournment award went to Mr Chol Kong a.k.a Baba Dunia. the South Sudan team head coach. The Coach of the Tournament Award is given to the coach who best exemplify excellence, leadership, respect and a true love for the sport of Soccer and the art of coaching throughout the tournament. It is an award in which the means justify the end. It is given not only for hard work and personal improvement, but for a willingness to understand, to learn, to enter into a partnership with coach and teammates in an effort to recognize one’s full potential.
Else where the Make Smoking History PAN Cup 2020 Assistant coach of the tournament award was awarded to the South Sudan Team assistant coach Mr. Alex Yosa Malesh. According to the tournament organizers, assistant coaches are members of the coaching staff that contribute their knowledge and skills in helping the coach develop his players, as well as aiding the coaching in building an effective team. Malesh was also commended by his own player Friday Zico who said “Alex is the most Passionate and Patriotic person I’ve ever met. The Man for his country he’ll do everything”.
