Zalan Football Club starts COVID-19 awareness campaign in Rumbek

Zalan FC on Saturday 16th May, 2020 announced that the club has started COVID-19 awareness campaign in Rumbek.

According to the club captain Justin Marial, the awareness campaign will target citizens in Rumbek town and nearby villages by through use of public sound systems and the entire lakes state via the radio talk shows.

He added that the club will distribute ten (10) and twenty litres’ water tanks to specified public places for hand washing.

The attacking midfielder, Marial urged other football clubs to join the campaign in disseminating COVID-19 awareness messages to the public.

Benjamin Makur Mabor, Gonzaga football club manager was quick to respond to the call for a united approach to the awareness campaign.

He encouraged all footballers and fans to follow the preventive measures laid out by the ministry of health and the World Health Organization (WHO). Makur went on to appreciate Zalan FC administration for taking the lead and added his voice on encouraging other clubs to join the campaign.

South Sudan has suspended all football activities due to the corona virus pandemic. Currently there are 236 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 4 deaths and 4 recoveries in the country.
