South Sudan League defending Champions, Atlabara FC have confirmed their readiness to represent the country in the preliminary rounds of Confederation of African Football (CAF) interclub competition, Champions League 2020-21 season.

Mr. Kamal Yusuf, club Secretary for Finance assured their readiness through a weekend sports live call-in program on one of the leading local radio station, City FM, Juba.

This followed communication by the South Sudan Football Association after the Board meeting on Wednesday 20th May, 2020 to not have any team representing the country in the premium continental club competition.

“The decision is not fair for us. We were consulted. Mr. Francis Amin (SSFA President) contacted our Club Chairman Dr. Dario Kron asking if we (Atlabara FC) are ready to travel because we (SSFA Board) are entering in a meeting shortly, and the chairman (Dario) said we are ready to travel, 90% we are ready”, Kamal told the crew in the studio.

Mr. Kamal went on to assure that Francis Amin warned the club of the financial constraintsin their phone conversation, saying that the football governing body in the country and government will not be having budget to support their travel.

Atlabara, through their finance Secretary confirmed that they have their own sources of getting the finance to facilitate their travels.

The frustrated finance Secretary went on to reveal that no institution gave them any penny during their last travel to Egypt to face Al Ahly in same competition.

Mr. Kamal assured the pundits and listeners of the popular show that the club board will meet and come up with resolutions which will be submitted to SSFA.

The Bara boys are the defending Champions after defeating Al-Hilal of Wau and Al Qadasia of Renk in three-man horse race, hosted at Wau stadium.
