The South Sudan National Minister of Youth and Sports Hon, Dr. Albino Bol on Monday 27 July 2020 visited the offices of the South Sudan National Olympics Committee (SSNOC) to raise the SSNOC new flag which was raised on Monday 27th July 2020.
Hon, Dr Albino Bol who was welcomed by the President of the South Sudan National Olympic Committee Eng. Juma Stephen Lugga Lemi was briefed about the activities of the committee and the challenges facing the organization.
The Minister also appreciated the SSNOC of making sure that the country had to be admitted as part of the International Olympics Committee (IOC), being the mother of all the sports in the country, the minister assured that all the sports association/federations in the country will be catered for in the 2020/2021 national budget and has urged SSNOC to prepare all the teams in every sport.
Dr. Albino also mentioned the need to have sports facilities and infrastructures so that the youth are involved in all sports activities to change their mindset and act as a post conflict trauma healing and rehabilitation avenue as he looks forward to see South Sudan as one of the greatest nations in the Africa Continent in terms of Sports.
The national olympic committee is now under seeing the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), the South Sudan Athletics Federation (SSAF), the South Sudan Basketball Federation (SSBF), the South Sudan Kickboxing Federation (SSKBF) and the South Sudan Special Olympics Committee etc.
SSNOC members present during the raising of the new flag are Dr . Tong Chor Malek (SNCC) Secretary General, Gen. Paul Paul Kon, Gabriel Geng Geng as members of SSNOC, Ambassador Michael Amanamoiu , Maragan Gismala Vice President of SSNOC and the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Mr. Kuc Week
In his own capacity the President of the South Sudan National Olympic Committee Eng. Juma Stephen Lugga Lemi said SSNOC has initiated an Anti Doping Document which will be need to be approved by the Council of Minister, The Parliament of South Sudan through the Members of Parliament (MPs) before the Head of State signs it so that South Sudan is admitted as full member of the IOC anti doping convention.
Juma also stated that the South Sudan athletes who have been sent for training to Japan in 2019, have their stay renewed until 2021 and has also told the families of the four athletes that the sports men are in good shape
It should be noted South Sudan is the 206 member of the International Olympic Committee who will in turn participate in the next 2021 Tokyo Olympics to be hosted in June 2021 in Japan.
