The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has confirmed on Tuesday August 5th 2020 that the South Sudan National Teams training center at Buluk ground is nearing its completion.
“The work on Buluk Playground, the training Centre for National Teams is at its final stage of completion. The field will be handed to the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) in the coming days. SSFA’s management therefore, extends its applause to sports lovers for the achievement”.
The laying of the artificial turf on the Buluk Playground, which is going to be the training centre for all the National Team (s) (Bright Stars) commenced on the 24th July 2020 following the arrival of the Engineer from Turkey.
The GS Construction Company, which is currently undertaking the revampt renovation of Juba Stadium was awarded the contract of carrying out the works at Buluk Playing Ground on February 11th 2020, however the work was affected by the CoronaVirus Pandemic, which delayed the works which was meant to have been completed on 27th March 2020.
The ground which also doubles as the official home ground for the South Sudan Athletics Federation (SSAF), will likely have a gym section constructed within the premises, and will be equipped with all the gym machines. SSFA also stated that National Oil Company NILEPET will construct a Hall within the premises.
The ground which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2020 5th edition of the South Sudan National Unity Day games will be upgraded into an international training facility.
“This will cut some of our expenses we were spending on sending our national teams for camping outside South Sudan, due to sports facilities, this facility will indeed help so much” Says Amin. He further said the Women’s and Junior Leagues will be able to kick off if such a facility is complete.
It should be noted that South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has been sending the national football team to Khartoum for camping ever since the renovation of the stadium came into effect in February 2019.
