Crown Football Club Women’s soccer team have beaten all odds to win the Peace and Love Tournament Cup on Sunday 20th September 2020 , after defeating Amarat team by three goals to zero.
The Peace and Love tournament was organized by the Madan Rico tournament Committee in the Malakia suburb in Juba.
According to Tamazuj Sports reporter, the match, which brought two strongest teams of Crown FC and Amarat United FC together, began on Friday 18th September 2020.
The game which was graced by South Sudan senior national women team player Amy Lasu Ropani showed forward Emmanuela breaking the deadlock in the first half through a cross from Winnie against the Amarat United FC Women team.
The second half of the game started superbly for Crown FC, which eventually made attacking midfielder Lasu Amy Lauya scoring in the second as the team’s second goal and Mary Agum added the third goal.
The chairman of the organizing committee of the tournament , Simon Lasu Michael, said the intention of the tournament is to unite the youth in the Malakia neighborhood.
The captain of the Crown FC team Sara thanked the organizing committee of the tournament, saying that without them, people would not have known that there are girls playing football.
It should be noted that South Sudan is yet to establish a national or local league clear cut competition for Women, however with hiring of the Consultant perhaps new changes might likely arise in the Women football set up.
