As the Bright Stars of South Sudan are gearing their preparations in the Cameroonian Capital Yaoundé ahead of the Uganda AFCON2021 double header of group B day 3 and 4, reports from the Intermediate camp is that the Bright Stars will be facing a different set of team as CHAN team coach Yves Clement releases 8 of his team players.
The head coach of the intermediate Lions of Cameroon has ordered for the release of eight players from the ongoing training camp at the CAF Excellence center in Mbankomo. Kick442.com website has reported.
This comes barely 24 hours after the team’s goal less draw against South Sudan in a warm-up first leg game arranged by the Cameroon Football Federation.
According to Kick442.com, the released players includes center back Djob Lidjoh and full-back Etta Bawak who are both injured while six others includes; midfielders Mark O’ojong, Rene Ndi, Nde Collins plus sweepers Ngwang Brian, Ngede Ngede Junior and forward Arouna Dang all the players have been reported to have left camp this Sunday.
Djob has damaged anterior cruciate ligaments and is likely to miss the CHAN 2021 while Bawak has a knock in the knee and is expected to be out for at least 10 days.
“It is a slight knee problem, I hope to be fully-fit soonest,” Bawak told this Pan-African Sports News Agency.
The website has however not disclosed the reason for the exit of the rest of the players but there is a likelihood that the coach is unsatisfied with their output during the barren draw on 10th October 2020 against visitors South Sudan.
However www.kurrasports.com understands that Yves has called up five faces into the squad ahead of the Tuesday’s 13th October, 2020 second leg encounter with the Bright Stars. The five includes Tcindo John Bosco of PWD Bamenda who initially scored 2 goals against the Bright Stars in a club friendly. Other are Yankam Abouri Basile of PWD Bamenda, Ndzana Joel of Panthere Du NDE and Banga of Coton Sport. The players are expected to report to camp on Monday 12th October 2020.
South Sudan will on Tuesday 13th October 2020 play the Cameroon Intermediate team in a second leg game later next week before traveling back to Juba to continue their preparations ahead of the Uganda Cranes encounter.
