The Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, H.E Mama Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior has urged the South Sudan citizens to be calm as the investigation into the Stadium cabin collapse commenced Saturday 10th October, 2020. H.E during her stadium visit on Friday 09/10/2020 further said that the concerned authorities will be given enough time to do their work perfectly and report exactly what caused the collapse of the stadium cabin.
H.E Rebacca Nyandeng De Mabior who also holds the Gender and Youth Cluster portfolio (Include Ministries of Gender, Child and Social Welfare; Culture and Heritage, Youth, and Sports) ,urges the committee to use their skills and do their job perfectly well, saying that incident was a matter of life.
“We don’t want to pre-empt the committee before they bring conclusion to all of us, but I just want to encourage them that this is their country and they have all the skills, we don’t need to go and bring someone from outside to do the job for us when we have our own. So, we want you to do a good job because this concerns the lives of people at the same time and also repetition of the government.
It should be noted that the government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, suspended the construction works of the Juba Stadium until further notice so as to pave way for investigations after the VIP Cabin Section of the Stadium fell off on Tuesday 6th October 2020. Dr. Albino has also stated that he will be consulting with the South Sudan’s Vice President of the Gender and Youth Cluster portfolio.
The Investigation committee (Fact Finding Committee) is being headed by Hon: Kuac Wek Wol as chairperson and will be deputized by Engineer Celina Sertigel, other members of the committee includes Engineer Mayen Deng, Molana Atem Ayuel, Engineer Malish Thomas, Januar Frezer Sakara, Engineer Thomas Tombe, among others. According to the minister the committee is to come out with the final report after two weeks.
