
Juba based Cobra Basketball Club has confirmed that three of their club players have been included into the South Sudan Basketball Bright Stars squad.
The players are Tony Marino Anthony, Samir Loduo and Alex Tombe. Marion had a good shooting guard who made it to the list with a strong display, homing in 29 points with an average 31 efficiency, during the BAL 2020 Group F Qualifiers in Kigali Rwanda.
In a club statement posted on their social media platform, “Let’s congrat our players Tony Marino Anthony, Samir Loduo and Alex Tombe for winning the trust of the technical committee in Juba Camp to join the Basketball team in FIBA Afrobasket 2021 Wild Card Tournament in Yaounde Cameroon.

Cobra were Champions of 23rd Edition of Nkumba Open Volleyball Tournament 2019 This is the first ever trophy to cross the border into South Sudan and the mentioned players were part of the team that year.
The South Sudan Bright Stars team is already in Yaounde Cameroon to take part in the 2020 WILD CARD group pre qualification final round.
South Sudan will be up against Cape Verde, and Chad in the tournament staged at the Cameroonian administrative capital of Yaounde from October 23-25. The winner of this event will join Group E with Egypt, Morocco and Uganda in Alexandria from November 27-29.
The South Sudan Basketball Federation (SSBF) is yet to release the full names of players summoned for the two day pre qualification matches.
The Country is gunning for a maiden appearance at the FIBA AfroBasket. A first attempt at getting to the Qualifiers had proven unsuccessful with a 74-68 defeat to Kenya and a 4-1 slate during the Pre Qualifiers in January.
