The South Sudan Football Association has on Saturday 17th October, 2020 kicked off a FIFA referees fitness screening test. Speaking during the opening session, the football national governing body SSFA Secretary General, Mr. Anthony John encouraged the referees to input their enthusiasm towards gearing sports in the country, analyzing that referees are the sports’ backbone and should do their utmost to improve football in South Sudan.
He further reminded the participant that South Sudan representatives in the intentional refereeing arena depend on their input and hard-work, therefore should consider training earnestly.
Meanwhile, the SSFA’s Referees’ Chairperson advises the referees to concentrate on their daily fitness routine activities to improve their performance, noting that personal fitness depends on one’s commitments and passion for their personal career.
It should be noted that the South Sudan national football governing body SSFA on Monday 31st August 2020 had an online refereeing course offered by FIFA in Juba for thirty five referees from Nine Local Football Associations.
The online course which took three days was officially opened by the President of South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), Mr. Francis Amin.
South Sudan has only six FIFA and CAF approved referees with no women representation. 2 out of the 6 are centre referees while the 4 are assistant referees.
