South Sudan Cup holders and country’s CAF Confederations Cup representatives Al Rabita FC Juba fortunes of playing in this year’s continental competitions has been boosted financially.
The boost came barely a month into the continental showcase when the South Sudan Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic planning Hon; Agok Makur made a donation of SSP 250,000 SSP to the club on Monday 19th October, 2020 during his visit to the team training session/ in preparation for the upcoming African Confederation Cup.
The minister has urged the players and club management to go and represent the country well and lift the flag of the nation during the continental engagement. He further assured the club that the government will support the team this time.
The President of the South Sudan football Association Mr. Francis Amin Michael thanked the Minister for the support and he called upon all South Sudanese and well wishers to stand with the team. In his part the acting President of Juba Local Football Association Mr. Lado has appreciated the role of the government in always giving moral and always supporting the team during this difficult time.
It should be noted that, team in South Sudan do struggle finally when the are committing into continental competitions, with the national football governing body SSFA extending support to almost all the clubs taking part in such competition, with the most recent ones being Al Hilal FC Wau, El Salam FC Wau and Amarat United FC Juba, Atlabara FC Juba.
The CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round will be kicking off on 27-29 November 2020 with the second leg scheduled for 4th -6th December 2020. No team from South Sudan has ever gone past the Preliminary round since the country was affiliated to CAF in 2012.
