The South Sudan national football team camp has been boosted by the news of the Munuki FC Juba and Bright Stars attacking midfielder Pawaar Stephen Geng who has started light training on Tuesday 27th October, 2020 for the first time after returning from Cameroon.

Pawaar Stephen resumed training this evening with the National Team. He is going through a light training as he prepares his way into a full recovery according to the national team manager.

The attacking midfielder picked up an injury in Cameroon during the Bright Stars outing in Yaounde in an international friendly game against the Intermediate Lions in a game which ended goalless.

Pawaar has been an important player in the South Sudan national team because of his ability of running down defenders and holding onto the ball, the quality ball distribution at most impressed coach Ashu Cyprian Besong to pick him ahead of the rest to start against Burkina Faso in the team’s 2-1 loss in Khartoum.

South Sudan is preparing to face Uganda in the day 3 and 4 of the Total Africa Cup of Nations 2021 qualifiers in a double header match to be played at St Mary’s Stadium and Nyayo National Stadium in Kenya respectively, on the 12th and 16th next month, a game which will require players to be fit as it will be a determinant match for the Country’s qualification fortunes to Cameroon.

The Bright Stars are bottom of group B with zero points, with Uganda and Burkina Faso sitting top and second of the group after acquiring 4 points each, the Malawian flames are 3rd with 3 points after the 1-0 win in Blantyre against the Bright Stars.
