South Sudan’s only club ambassador in the 2020/2021 CAF interclub competitions Al Rabita FC Juba will not wait further as today Monday 9th November, 2020 comes the day they will be knowing who to face in this year’s continental showcase.
Al Rabita FC Juba who won the South Sudan Cup early this year after beating Nile City FC of Yambio 2-0 in the finals at Seminary playing ground will be representing the country in this year’s CAF confederations cup for the first time in their club history.
Under the guidance of former interim national team coach Ramsey Sebit Lumeri, Al Rabit FC Juba will have to start the competition from the preliminary round due to the league rankings released by CAF, which show other clubs exempted from the preliminary round.
The club has been going through a series of locally organised friendly games within Juba playing against the South Sudan senior national team and the U-20 national teams, games which show the range of display from the team on high gear.
In this year’s ranking, CAF has exempted eleven clubs from taking part in the preliminary round of the confederations cup some of the clubs exempted are Etoile du Sahel, RS Berkane, JS Kabylie & ES Sétif, Al Ahli Tripoli, KCCA FC, Pyramids FC, Orlando Pirates, DC Motema Pembe, Al Hilal Obeid, UD Songo, ESAE, and San Pedro.
According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the first leg matches will be played between November 27 and November 29, an event which will see Al Rabita FC hosting their opponents away from South Sudan due to no approved facility yet to host international matches as Juba Stadium is nearing its completion.
