The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Vice President Mr Omari Constant will take charge of the activities of the continental football as per the CAF communication press release on Friday 13th November 2020.
“On medical advice, the President of The Confederation of African Football Mr Ahmad Ahmad, has been prescribed a convalescence period which will last at least 20 days during which he is requested to limit his efforts so as to totally restore his energy.”
This unavailability temporarily makes it impossible to conduct the normal duties linked to a function which requires good health. In this situation, the first Vice-President Mr Omari Constant will take the interim lead of the CAF executive until 30th November 2020.
This decision is set out in Article 24 paragraph 8 of the statute, which states that « If the President is absent or temporarily unavailable, the first Vice-President shall deputise ».
It should be noted that on Friday October 30, 2020 the Continental football governing body through it’s communication department send a press release announcing that “ After his arrival in Cairo on Wednesday October 28, Mr. Ahmad Ahmad, President of CAF, presented mild flu symptoms, and submitted to the Covid19 protocol. Today, the test results are positive. The President immediately self-isolated for at least the next 14 days at his hotel”.
All those who have come into contact with Mr. Ahmad over the past seven days – especially during his trip to Morocco for the Confederation Cup – have been informed and requested to take the necessary measures.
