Practice Match: South Sudan (U-20) Team 2-1 Arusha FC.
In a bid to prepare for their upcoming competition, the South Sudan (U-20) team squared off at the Aga Khan University Campus in Arusha on Sunday in a practice training match by beating Arusha FC 2-1 .
South Sudan U-20 team beat Arusha FC of Tanzania 2-1 with South Sudan’s U-20 goals coming in from 18 years old Lual Dani Gumnok, Pengo John scored for the home team.
Lual opened the score on the 5th minute through a penalty after an unprofessional tackle in the 18 yard box. In the 12 minutes the Mathare United FC forward increased the tally to 2-0 in the 12th minutes. Pengo John scored for the home team in the 70th minute. Arusha FC finished the game with 10th men after one of their players was sent off following a second booking offense.
The team will have a series of friendly games ahead of their Zonal U-20 Qualifiers games against Uganda, Eritrea and Burundi
Arusha City F.C. is a Tanzanian football club from Arusha. Its home games are played at Sheikh Amri Abeid Memorial Stadium. The team played in the Tanzanian Premier League in 2007, but was relegated at the end of the season to the second level and played in the Tanzanian Second Division League, the third tier.
Arusha Football Club returned to the Tanzanian Premier League for the 2010/11 season.
The South Sudan U-20 team technical bench used the game as a precursor to the Total CAF U-20 Zonal Qualification tourney which will kick off on 23rd November – 06th December 2020 in Arusha, Tanzania.
South Sudan is drawn in group B alongside Uganda and Burundi. Three teams will feature in the group as Eritrea withdrew in this year’s competition.
