CECAFA U-20: Will The South Sudan Under – 20 Emulate Their Senior Counterparts Ahead Of Uganda Under-20 Game!

South Sudan Vs Uganda – Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium, Arusha (4:00 PM)

The South Sudan Bright Starlets U-20 will this afternoon  take on the Uganda Hippo in the 2020 CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers in their first group B match.

The Bright Stars on Monday 16th November 2020 beat the Uganda Cranes by a single goal to zero courtesy of Tito Okello Odong’s goal in the 35th minute, something that the U-20 team is looking forward to emulating this afternoon.   

The national U-20 team have been camped in Arusha at Agha Khan University since November 12, with further preparation for the tournament.

Tricky right back Joseph Dhata, who recently joined for SC Vipers on a 4 year professional contract is also part of the South Sudan U-20 team.

After Uganda, the Bright Starlets will then summarize their group B game against Burundi on November 27 a team they drew 3-3 in the CECAFA 2019 tournament held in Njeru, Uganda. 

The 2020 CECAFA Under-20 Championship has only Nine participating  teams after the withdrawal of Eritrea and Rwanda.  

Group A – Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia and Djibouti

Group B – Burundi, South Sudan, Uganda

Group C – Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan

The top team in each group will proceed to the semifinals, alongside the best runner-up.

“The boys are ready for the game against Uganda. We have had better preparations for this tournament,” said Coach Simon James Yor.
