Four South Sudan FIFA Referees Appointed For Total CAFCL 2020-21 First Preliminary Round Second Leg

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) through the referees appointment committee has appointed Four FIFA Referees from South Sudan to handle match no.8 of the Total CAF Champions League 2020/2021 First Preliminary Round Second Leg fixture between hosts Mogadishu City Club of Somalia and AS SONIDEP of Niger on Saturday, 5th December 2020.

This match will be staged at the Djibouti Ville-Stade Gouled Stadium (Artificial turf) of the Horn of Africa country.

The referees in the box are Alier Michael JAMES (Center Referee), Gasim Madir DEHIYA (First Assistant Referee), Robert HENRY (Second Assistant Referee) , Ring Nyier Akech Malong (Fourth Official) all from South Sudan.

Malong who will be the 4th official of the day had just returned from CECAFA U-20 duty, the satisfied FIFA and CAF referee officiated the opening CECAFA U-20 Zonal Qualifiers match of host Tanzania and Djibouti, while first assistant referee Gasim Madir DEHIYA has been assigned to be with the upcoming CECAFA U-17 Zonal Qualifiers which will be held in Rwanda from the 13th to the 28th of December 2020. 

The set have undergone CAF/FIFA fitness tests with both Malong and Gasim performing their test in Khartoum, Sudan recently. However Robert and Michael Alier performed theirs in Juba, South Sudan in October 2020.


Ethiopian Solomon Gebresilassie Abebe will be the match Commissioner and Mohammmed Omar Isman of Djibouti will be the COVID_19 Officer of the day. 

It should be noted AS SONIDEP of Niger is leading the aggregate score with a 2-0 advantage against Mogadishu City Club of Somalia. 

The Four Officials from South Sudan will leave on Thursday 3rd December 2020, ahead of the match on Saturday 5th December 2020 with the kickoff time schedule for 6:00pm (17:00)hrs.
