SSFA President Dedicates U-20 3rd Place Playoffs Win Against Kenya To The Fans Of Football And People Of South Sudan

The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) President who also doubles as the First Vice President of the Council of Central and East Africa Football Association (CECAFA) Mr Francis Amin Michael has said he is dedicating the 2-1 win of the South Sudan U-20 at the expenses of Kenya U-20 team to the fans and people of South Sudan all over the Country and abroad.

On his official twitter account, the President posted   “I’d like to dedicate this time to Congratulate our National Team U-20 for the victory against Kenya U-20 on Wednesday 2nd December 2020, you made our country proud & I present the victory to the people of South Sudan. Long Live South Sudan, thanks to CAF, & FIFA for supporting us”. 

First half goals from Philip Angelo Ta ban Biajo and Nelson Victor Elia secured the victory for the South Sudan U-20 victory against the Kenya Rising Star.

South Sudan finished this year’s CECAFA U-20 tourney as 3rd placed team after being eliminated by host Tanzania in their 1-0 defeat in the semi final. 

The Youngsters were in group B alongside tournament eventual winners Uganda Hippos and Burundi. They drew with 10 man Uganda 0-0 and beat Burundi 4-0.

It should be noted that this is the second time the Country has taken part in such competition following their 2019 Quarter final exit after losing to Sudan 1-0 at Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu under coach Simon James Yor. 

The 25 man squad and 8 technical team is set to arrive in the Country on Saturday 5th December 2020 as the Uganda based players will be looking forward to joining their clubs as the 2020/2021 league returns.

Uganda Hippos were crowned Champion after beating host Tanzania 4-1 in the finals which was played on Wednesday 2nd December 2020 at the Black Rhino Academy. However both countries have qualified to represent the CECAFA region in the upcoming Total AFCON U-20 competition to be held in Mauritania in 2021.
