FIFA World Ranking August 2021: South Sudan Ranked At 165 In The World

The South Sudan National Senior Soccer Team has dropped one point behind and now ranked at 165 in the World & 47 in Africa with 984 points in the August 2021 FIFA released World rankings on the 12th August 2021 

The Bright Stars have not been involved in any FIFA friendly match since the forfeited Jordan match in the FIFA Arab Cup fixture is yet to feature for any international friendly match.

South Sudan is currently without a head coach after the expiry of Ashu Cyprian Besong’s contract on the 4th of July 2021. He was appointed South Sudan national football team head coach in July 2017 and improved the performances of both the players and the team. 

The year the country was best ranked was in 2015 at 134 in the World and 42 in Africa following their tremendous performances against Equatorial Guinea on September 5th 2015 beating the visitors 1-0 at Juba National Stadium and in the following year the Bright Stars picked another crucial 1-1 against Mauritania in a FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on October 8th 2015. Since then the Bright Stars rankings have drastically been going down.

Uganda still maintains as the best ranked country in the CECAFA region sitting on the 84th in the World, Kenya (104), Sudan (121), Rwanda (127), Tanzania (135), Ethiopia (137), Burundi (140), South Sudan (165), Djibouti (182), Somalia (196) and  Eritrea (204).
