Athletics: JICA, South Sudan to send four athletes for camping in Japan

Japan International Cooperation (JICA) in partnership with South Sudan National Olympics Committee will be sending athletes for further trainings in Maebashi City, Japan on Thursday, 14th November, 2019.

The athletes include, 17-year-old Joseph Akoon Akoon, Abraham Majok, Locia William and for Paralympics, 22-year-old Michael Machiek.

Coach Joseph Ransio will prepare these four athletes for different categories ahead of 2020 Tokyo Olympic games.

Joseph is going to run in 400m and 400m hurdle in the Olympic Games, as Michael competes in the 100m and 200m Paralympic Games.

Both Joseph and Michael participated in the past National Unity Day (NUD) sports events, which are organized by Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MOCYS) supported by JICA.

Whereas, Abraham Majok and William took part in the recently concluded national athletics event in Wau.

South Sudan will be taking part in Olympics Games for the second time after being part of the Rio Games and hopes will be high this time for medals in Tokyo.
