The South Sudan Athletics Federations (SSAF) Secretary General Mr. Marco Akol has on Sunday 20th December, 2020 confirmed to kurrasport that the Federation will soon send six under twenty athletes to Uganda, Kampala for a training camp.
The team will train in Uganda ahead of the World Athletics Under Twenty (U-20) which will be held in the Kenyan Capital Nairobi in July 2021. According to Akol the rest of the Athletes are already in Juba and are ready for the Uganda, Kampala trip.
The Secretary General also confirmed that the team will be traveling to Uganda after completing the COVID_19 testing processes in Juba, South Sudan. The U-20 athletics team includes; Mayen Kuol, Thiel Deng Thiel, Perena John Togo, Otmore Kassok, and Santos Chiman.
It should be noted that the athletes will each be training on a two competitive events with Mayen Kuol set to train and will be competing in 100 and 200 meters respectively, Thiel Deng Thiel in 200 and 400 meters respectively, Otmore Kassok in 3000 and 5000 meters as well as John Abioch Koon, while Santos Chiman will be training and competing in the 800 and 1500 meters respectively and the only female athlete in the group Perena John Togo will be competing in the 1500 meters.
The team will be under coach Peter Mongo and Abdraman Chan and head of the mission and they will be in Kampala for the next seven (7) months according to Akol.
