South Sudan Football Association SSFA has confirmed that FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura will be visiting South Sudan on 10th September 2021 in a statement released on their social media platform.
” The meeting discussed the arrangements for the reception of the Secretary General of Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and accompanying delegation in the Republic of South Sudan on 10.09.2021. This is the second official visit of the FIFA Secretary General to South Sudan”
It should surely be noted that under former SSFA President Francis Amin Michael, Madam Fatma Samoura visited South Sudan and this upcoming visit will be the second time in 2 years following their visit on Friday, Nov 15, 2019 alongside former CAF President Ahmad Ahmad, and other FIFA and CAF Executive Committee Member Hani Abo Rida and CAF Executive Committee Member Souleiman Waberi.
The delegation that year went on to meet with South Sudan’s Minister of Culture Youth & Sports Dr. Nadia Arop Dudi., with discussions focused on CAF’s commitment to nurturing and developing women’s football throughout Africa and the important role football can play in empowering girls and women.
The delegation in 2019 visited the office of South Sudan president H.E Salva Kiir with discussions that year centered on progress of the construction of the Juba football stadium, which the CAF/FIFA delegation visited earlier that day, President Salva Kiir’s vision for South Sudan and how football can play a role in educating and empowering the youth of the country.
The delegation then traveled to the SSFA headquarters and following a tour of the premises, met with the board of directors and staff.
The visit to South Sudan wrapped up with the delegation attending a youth football match for boys under 12 years of age, refereed by four female match officials.
Mr Augustino Maduot Paerk was elected South Sudan Football Association President on the 24th July 2021 and a lot of manifesto put on paper among others includes infrastructure development and grass root and women football development.
