Zalan FC wins Rumbek Local Football Association South Sudan Cup 2021 edition courtesy of Dhieu Kaman`s goal in the 17th minute of the game. The veteran defender coolly smashed in a half volley from the edge of the penalty area sending thousands of Zalan fans into ecstasy. the highly anticipated final was a battle of the two biggest clubs in lakes state in Zalan and Holy Family and attracted over seven thousand spectators to Rumbek Freedom Square.
The Final was the third time both teams have faced each other in the South Sudan Final with their previous meetings being in 2015 and in the 2020 South Sudan Cup Final which was played in February 2021 due to Covid19 disruption of the FA`s calendar, Zalan came out victorious on two occasions to Holy Family`s solitary win. However, both clubs have the most title wins with two titles each since the inception of the tournament in 2012.
The SSFA president Mr. Augustino Maduot who jetted into the state capital with his accompanying delegation comprising of SSFA board members Mr. Robert Zachariah and George Costa representing Rumbek and Yambio local football associations respectively, Former Secretary General of SSFA Mr. William Okot amongst other SSFA officials graced the big occasion. Gen. Maduot during his remarks emphasized SSFA`s commitment to promoting and developing grass root sports, women football and sports infrastructure across the country.

Amongst the State government officials present during the event were Minister of cabinet Affairs Hon. Stephen Mathiang Deng, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hon. William Koji and other dignitaries.
Zalan Football Club will represent Rumbek Local Football Association in the upcoming National South Sudan Cup Tournament.
