SSFA Elections 2021: Amin Hands In Candidacy Application To SSFA Secretariat To Seek For 2nd Term

The former South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) President, Mr. Francis Amin & his Deputy, Mr. Venasio Amum on Thursday 24th June 2021 officially submitted their candidacy applications to the SSFA Secretariat to stand for a second term. 

The application (s) document (s) were received and scrutinized and received by the SSFA Deputy Secretary General who is also the Secretary General, Joseph Archangelo Apai at the SSFA headquarters in Rock City. Mr. Amin was accompanied by some of the former Board of Directors members.

After the application submission Mr. Amin, responding to questions from the press, has promised to pick from where he left on his administration journey of infrastructure development if he is reelected for a second term in office, he further hinted that after Juba National Stadium completion, he will then embark on Wau, Renk Stadium renovation  process. 

Mr. Amin further stressed that he is expecting a transparent and democratic election. He promises to his fellow candidates that they shall observe transparency in order to carry out a fair and free election.

According to the Electoral Committee, the timetables for the electoral process will include integrity assessments which will be carried on from 20th to 30th June, and examination will be conducted in presence of the candidate in person, and based on the procedure, the committee will decide candidate’s eligibility for the position.

Mr Amin’s application submission brings to the total number of candidates to Four (4) candidates who are contesting for the South Sudan Football Association higher position and they includes; Mr. Lual Maluk Lual,  Mr. Peter Achuel and Mr. Augustino Maduot.

Earlier, in June Mr. Bak Athian, Chairperson for Election Appeal Committee clarified that the Election date is scheduled by the Electoral Committee and the Electoral date shall never be altered unless otherwise, adding that Appeals regarding candidacy shall be submitted after 30th June.

The South Sudan Football Association Independent Electoral Committee has picked 22nd July 2021 as the date for conducting the elections with 37 delegates expected to exercise their rights on behalf of the local football associations on electing the next SSFA President. Other the 2016 elections, this year’s contests has attracted 4 candidates including incumbent Francis Amin Michael.
