The South Sudan Football Association has confirmed that a total of 9 people have tested COVID_19 positive in Qatar the nine includes eight players and one technical Staff official have tested positive for Covid-19.
The Bright Stars arrived in Doha on Saturday 19th June 2021 at 4:00am. The delegation consists of 41 members —23 players, 8 technical team members and 10 officials for this year’s FIFA Arab Cup tournament.
According to the national team head coach Ashu Cyprian Besong, the affected players have been isolated from the team as a principle and procedure standard set by FIFA and host nation Qatar and will have a second day test done for them.
The national football governing body SSFA also confirmed that before traveling to Qatar, tests for all the 23 players and the 8 technical staff had tested negative in Juba other than one player who was then dropped.
South Sudan is to face Jordan on Monday 21st June 2021 in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar at Khalifa International Stadium, if the total number of players can reach 11 plus a few on the substitute bench, the game will likely be played
