FIFA Arab Cup 2021: Tito, Wani, Jackson And Lual Dropped As Besong Names Final Squad For Jordan Game

South Sudan senior national team head coach Ashu Cyprian Besong has released the final squad to face Jordan on Monday 21st June 2021 in the FIFA Arab Cup 2021.
In the list of omissions, Gor Mahia FC forward, Lual Daniel Gumnok Mathare United FC forward, Perth SC midfielder, , Busoga United FC attacking winger Wani Ivan Marcello and Ghazal United FC goalkeeper Mawien Khon Arop are some of the players coach has dropped from his final list. Defenders Agot Garang Ngor and Bul James Anyang were some of the players that were dropped.

According to the reports, some of the players were dropped due to fitness levels as they look forward to progressing into recovery from the injuries sustained.
Tito Okello who has had irregular training sessions due to illness joined Wani Ivan and Lual Daniel Gumnok who both had knee injuries, Mawien was dropped due to the competition in the goalkeeping department which is a preferred slot for Malakia Fc Juba’s John Ramadan Mayiik, Atlabara FC Juba’s Khemis Daniel Dak and soon to be attached Majak Mawith.

South Sudan national U-20 right back Dhata Joseph Stephen makes a breakthrough into the senior team as he made it to the final list of 23. Meanwhile, Adelaide City FC young talented 18 year old forward Kur Kur Gai was not a surprise inclusion either as he impressed many spectators when given the opportunity during the series of practicing games organised by the technical persons.

Toha Rashid who is playing his trade with Uganda Premier League defending champions Vipers Sports Club is among the new entrance into the senior team, Newcastle Jet FC forward Dominic Yuel Valentino, PEEK FC midfielder Abraham Riel Majok also made the cuts into the final 23 man squad.

Coach Besong has kept faith on his trusted defensive partnership of Munuki FC Juba pair of Rehan Angier, Manyang Peter Maker, Atlabara FC center back Mutwakil Abudukarim and Amal Atbara FC left back Omot Sebit.

South Sudan who is ranked at 169 in the recently released Coca Cola World FIFA ranking will be facing Jordan who are ranked at 95 in a FIFA Arab Cup Tournament on the preliminary stages in Qatar on Monday 21th June 2021.
The Bright Stars were included into the tournament as a guest team after accepting the invitation from the World governing football body in April 2021.

The winner of this match will then join group C teams which comprises of Morocco, Saudi Arabia and the winner between Palestine and Comoros Island.
According to FIFA, of the 23 nations involved, the 14 lowest-ranked teams according to the April edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking will participate in single-leg play-offs ahead of the tournament, which will be held later this year.
